Reports are compiled
on each student at the end of every term and at the end of the
academic year and sent to the parents; they are based on inputs from
each teacher who interacts with the student in a formal setting
(classroom or dormitory). These in turn are based on cumulative
records kept by the teacher over the course of the term. As such,
they reflect the performance of the student over a significant
length of time, and give a clear picture of his or her progress. The
reports are meant to be descriptive rather than judgmental, and are
primarily addressed to the parents.

At the primary
level, initially the emphasis is on motor, oral and creative skills.
Continuous assessment aligned to the learning outcomes are done
through projects, assignments, class tests, group activities,
self-reflection sessions and study tours (excursions). This helps
teachers find out what the students already know in order to plan
the next stage of learning.
At the middle school
level, continuous assessment is supplemented with summative
assessments at the end of each term. This include written, oral and
practical unit tests and examinations.
Assessment at High
school and College level is done using a well laid out routine of
unit tests, end-term examinations and practice examinations, and
ensures that students will be ready to face the Board examination. |
